Ludlow woman dies ten days after collision
A 70-year-old Ludlow woman has died in hospital ten days after being involved in a road collision while walking near her home.
Mrs Mary Guilbert, of Poyner Close, died in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital today.
She received injuries when in collision with a car but was able to make her way home and initially did not require an ambulance or hospital treatment. However, she was admitted to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital several days later after her condition worsened.
A post mortem will be held to establish the cause of death and an inquest is expected to open over the next few days.
The collision happened in Livesey Road near the junction with Sandpits Road at around 7.30am on Saturday, April 13.
Police Constable Tom Symonds, one of the investigating officers, said today: “We are continuing to investigate the circumstances and appealing to anyone who saw what happened to contact Shrewsbury police station by calling 101.
“We want any witnesses to the collision or anyone who spotted Mrs Guilbert or the vehicle immediately before or after it happened, to contact the police.”
The vehicle involved was a red Nissan Micra driven by a young woman who was uninjured.
