Father stabbed his children to death at disused Shropshire quarry
An inquest into the death of a father and his three children who were found at a disused quarry in Shropshire last year has begun.
The bodies of Ceri Fuller, 35, his son Samuel, 12, and daughters Rebecca Rose, 8, and Charlotte Mae ,7, all of Milkwall, Coleford, Gloucestershire, were discovered in an old quarry at Poles Coppice, Pontesbury Hill, near Shrewsbury on July 16 2012.
The inquest heard the children died from stab injuries to their necks and chest, a knife was found nearby.
Forensic scientist Christopher McKenzie, confirmed the knife found at the scene had DNA on it that matched Samuel, Rebecca and Charlotte.
Dr Alexander Kolar, a Home Office forensic pathologist said that wounds to 12-year-old Samuel and Rebecca had suggested a struggle with Fuller before their deaths.
Mr Fuller, was found at the foot of a 60ft cliff at the quarry with a fractured skull and other injuries consistent with a fall from height.
The inquest heard that Fuller had been told by his wife Ruth that their marriage was over and she was leaving him for a lecturer.
The family were reported missing from their Gloucestershire home on July 12 last year. Their vehicle, a maroon Land Rover Freelander, was spotted in the Shrewsbury and Welshpool area.
Their bodies were found four days after they were reported missing.
The inquest continues.
