Detectives given more time to question Oswestry murder suspect
Detectives have been given more time to question a man arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Oswestry.

Police attended Shrewsbury Magistrates’ Court at about 2.30pm today, where they were granted a further 33 hours to interview the 18-year-old.
Detective Inspector Steve Tonks, who is leading the investigation, said officers had also recovered a knife from the area around Lord Street, which is believed to be the weapon used in the attack.
Danny Jones, 21, of Chirk died in hospital after suffering a single stab wound to the abdomen following the incident at the Lord Street car park in Oswestry, which happened shortly before 8.20pm on Wednesday.
“We are still working to establish exactly what happened that night and ask anyone who might have been in the area at the time and might have seen something that would help our investigation to get in touch on 101,” added DI Tonks.
“Police officers searching in the Lord Street area found a knife that we believe is the one used in the attack and this has now been seized for forensic examination.
“We wish to thank the public for their help so far in this investigation, including the significant number of witnesses that have already come forward.”
Formal identification of Mr Jones took place this morning and inquest will be opened by the Coroner for Shropshire, Mr John Ellery, in due course.
