Extra police on patrol for Shrewsbury v Portsmouth game
A senior Shropshire police officer has urged football fans to enjoy themselves and stay out of trouble ahead of the weekend’s last game of the season between Shrewsbury and Portsmouth.

Extra officers will be out in the town on Saturday to ensure that genuine supporters can remain safe and have a good time.
Chief Inspector Paul Moxley, from West Mercia Police, said the police were not there to curb supporters’ fun but that they would deal swiftly and firmly with any trouble makers.
He said: “The game is ticket-only and has sold out for away fans.
“I would strongly advise Portsmouth supporters who don’t have a ticket not to travel to Shrewsbury and also warn the minority who might be looking to cause a problem that we will no be tolerating any trouble-makers.
“There will be a highly visible police presence with extra officers out on the streets to ensure that this last game of the season is not spoilt for the genuine fans or for our residents.”
