Police officers in Telford are investigating after a car was stolen from outside a house near Newport.

BMW stolen from driveway of Church Aston home

The blue BMW 320SD was taken from the driveway of an address on Silverdale Close in Church Aston sometime between 11pm on Sunday and 4am on Monday.

Thieves smashed one of the windows to allow them to gain entry, they then got into the car, started the engine and stole the car by driving off in it. The owner of the car still has all the keys in his possession so it is not clear at this stage how the thieves managed to start the car.

Police are yet to find anyone who heard the window being smashed and the owner only became aware of the theft at around 7am when one of his neighbours texted him about the fact his car was not there.

The stolen car – which has a 2011 registration plate - is thought to be worth around £18,000.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Silverdale Close area late on Sunday night or early on Monday morning, or anyone who believes they may have seen the car after it was stolen.

Anyone who believes they may have information, or may know where the stolen car is, is asked to contact police on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 56S 290413.

Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather pass on information without identifying yourself.
