Police officers in Telford are investigating after an attempted robbery in Catterick Close, Leegomery on Friday.

Man attempts to rob delivery driver in Leegomery

At around 4.30pm, the intended victim – a 33-year-old female delivery driver – parked her van up to deliver items for a supermarket and then made her way round to the back of it.

She opened the doors to the van to get shopping out but was then approached by an unknown man.

The man spoke to the victim and asked her what she had for him that was ‘free’. The victim laughed and told him nothing is free but the man then pushed her onto the floor in the van.

The man immediately started to look through the shopping bags but the victim screamed for help and the man ran off at speed without stealing anything from the shopping bags.

A police spokesman said:

“Although the victim has been left very shaken by this incident she has been able to give us a description of the man that tried to rob her and has helped us put together an e-fit of this man.

“We have released the e-fit today but the man is also described as being white, aged between 17 and 18, as being between 5ft 8 and 5ft 9inches tall, with a medium build and as being ‘baby faced’.

“He is also described as wearing a red hooded top with white drawstrings on it and a baseball cap with the letters ‘NY’ on the front in white.

“Anyone who believes they may have information about this incident, especially anyone who believes they may recognise the offender from the description or the e-fit, is asked to contact police on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 484SN 030513.

“Alternatively, pleased remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather pass on information without identifying yourself.”
