Police in Shrewsbury have appealed for witnesses after up to 10 allotment sheds were targeted by burglars.

Burglars target allotment sheds in Shrewsbury

The outbuildings at the Sutton Lane allotments were targeted between about 6pm on Wednesday and 7.30am on Thursday.

The offender or offenders managed to gain entry to some of the sheds but not to others, although damage was caused to each.

At this stage the only item found to have been stolen is a Stihl strimmer although police are still waiting to hear from all of the shed owners affected.

It is likely that whoever targeted the sheds was in the allotments, which are surrounded by a six-foot metal fence, for some time and police are keen to hear from anyone who might have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the area during that night.

Similarly, anyone who has been offered a strimmer like the one stolen for sale under dubious circumstances is also asked to get in touch.

Information can be passed on via 101 or on the anonymous and independent Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
