Large turnout expected for Shrewsbury Regatta
Thousands of people will be in Shrewsbury today to take part and watch the Shrewsbury Regatta.

Organised by Pengwern Boat Club, the two-day event took will welcome competitors from many parts of the UK.
The event which spans more than 100 years takes place today and tomorrow on the River Severn, organisers said this year’s event would be the largest in its history.
Racing takes place from 8.30am to 6pm on both days from the Pengwern Boat Club in Kingsland.
Yesterday, the Environment Agency removed a large tree from the river ahead of this weekend’s event close to the Porthill Bridge. The tree had become caught on an under water electricity cable during flooding at Christmas.
Last year the regatta was called off for the first time in its history after safety concerns were raised over rising water levels on the River Severn.
