Thieves steal £3000 worth of fishing tackle in Dawley

Police officers in Telford are investigating after a significant amount of fishing tackle was stolen in Dawley.

Thieves steal £3000 worth of fishing tackle in Dawley

The theft occurred at a property on Attwood Terrace sometime between 4pm on Tuesday 7th and 11am on Saturday 11th May.

Thieves climbed over the fence that surrounds the rear garden at the address and then approached a garden shed.

The thieves then gained entry to the shed and stole several thousand pounds worth of fishing tackle from inside before making their escape with it.

The tackle stolen from inside the shed included 2 ‘Maver’ fishing poles, 2 ‘Bob Rudd’ match rods and various other fishing accessories.

The estimated value of the fishing tackle stolen is thought to be around £3000.

In light of this incident, police would like to remind people that while they should obviously take steps to protect their homes and the property inside them, they should also remember not to leave valuable equipment in gardens and unsecured sheds, providing easy pickings for opportunist thieves.

Power tools, mowers, garden tools, mountain bikes and golf clubs are just some examples of expensive equipment left in sheds that are not strong or secure enough to protect them from thieves. To make matters worse, these stolen items could then be used by the intruder to break into your house.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact police on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 248S 110513.

Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather pass on information without identifying yourself.
