Regenerated Hadley Centre opens for business
Saturday 1 June will see the first phase of the new Hadley Centre well and truly open for business with its official opening after the area has benefited from significant regeneration.

Work on the regeneration to Hadley Centre began last June with the demolition of 12 retail units and maisonettes ready for the construction of brand new retail units.
Throughout the regeneration Telford & Wrekin Council has been working in partnership with Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council to drive the improvements forward to provide a more inviting centre with modern shops and services for residents.
As well as a new Tesco Express supermarket there are six other retail units, five of which are already let.
Three tenants have relocated from their old units and include the Rowlands Pharmacy, Hadley Under Fives and the dentist. The two other let units are home to Greggs and a fish and chip ship. Hadley Vets remain open in their current location and will continue to provide this well established business until they eventually relocate into the second phase retail units.
Residents coming to the centre will be able to enjoy enhanced facilities with the new units as well as new vehicle access leading to parking provision which has been greatly improved.
The official opening on Saturday 1 June takes place between 12pm and 2pm and will have entertainment for all the family including Telford Jubilee Band, bouncy castle, balloons and guest of honour Eric Smith from BBC Radio Shropshire.
A formal ribbon cutting will also mark the official opening of the first phase of the new Hadley Centre on the day.
Councillor Richard Overton, cabinet member for Borough Town Development and Policy, said: “Telford & Wrekin Council has worked hard to regenerate much needed areas within the borough and Hadley is no exception.
“I’m delighted that the first phase of the new Hadley Village Centre is opening and we now have a well located, modern shopping provision to serve the local community and help kick start the local economy.”
Councillor John Smart, Chairman of Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council, said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled that Hadley now has such modern facilities in the village centre.
“The regeneration works have completely lifted the feel of the centre and I’m sure it’s going to go from strength to strength.
“I’m particularly pleased that we have been able to work in partnership with the borough and to maintain the weekly market throughout the works, and that, combined with the new shops will really put the hustle and bustle into Hadley.”
Subject to a number of conditions being met, the Council hopes to be able to progress on to Phase 2 of the redevelopment project later in the Summer.
