Jiggers Bank stabilisation proposals to go on view
Proposals for the stabilisation of Jiggers Bank have been finalised and will be available for the public to view on Tuesday 21 May.

The proposals will be available to view between 4pm and 7.30pm at the Ironbridge Open Air Museum of Steel Sculpture on Cherry Tree Hill.
In November a rockfall triggered by a period of wet and cold weather led to the closure of Jiggers Bank. Subsequent rockfalls took place in the days following and it was deemed unsafe for the road to reopen until measures had been taken to stabilise the area.
Since the closure, engineers have carried out emergency safety work, topographical surveys, ecological surveys and ground investigation works to provide information for a design to stabilise the rockface.
The design was granted planning approval in April 2013 and the remedial works are currently progressing. The drop-in session on 21 May will enable people to view the proposed design, discuss the proposals with the officers from Engineering Services and to make comments.
Councillor Hilda Rhodes, cabinet member for Transport and Community Safety, said: “While Jiggers Bank has now been closed for a number of months, the closure has been entirely necessary for the safety of the public and in order for the required survey work to be undertaken to work towards a solution”.
“We believe that we now have a design proposal that will stabilise the rockface and allow for the road to reopen”.
“I am grateful for the patience of the public during this time and look forward to the reopening of a road much used by both residents and visitors to the borough.”
