Police in Telford are appealing for witnesses after a woman walking with her 2-year-old son was robbed near The Wrekin.

Woman robbed whilst walking near The Wrekin with young son

The incident occurred on Ercall Lane near to the car park area on the right hand side of the road, not far from the Buckatree Hotel.

At around 6.30pm on Sunday , as the victim was walking along Ercall Lane towards the hotel, she was approached from behind by two unknown men. The men are described as wearing grey hooded tops and tracksuit bottoms.

Without warning, one of the men grabbed the victim’s hair and the other then struck her in the face and pulled her handbag from off her shoulder.
Once they had grabbed her handbag, the two offenders immediately ran off into the woods that lead towards Ercall.

A police spokesman said: “The victim was left very shaken by this incident but thankfully she only suffered minor injuries as a result of it. Although upset, her son was not touched by the unknown men during the robbery.

“When it was stolen the victim’s handbag contained a red purse with £35 in it, a black Samsung C330 mobile phone and a number of personal documents.

“This handbag has since been found by police officers discarded in a nearby field and although the purse, the phone and the personal documents were found inside, the money that had been in the purse was missing.

“Anyone who believes they may have information about this incident is asked to call West Mercia Police quoting incident number 676S 190513.

“Alternatively, pleased remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather pass on information without identifying yourself.”
