Fashion show brings glitz and glamour to Shrewsbury
A live fashion extravaganza brought glitz, glamour and crowds to Shrewsbury’s bustling Darwin and Pride Hill Shopping Centres on Saturday.

The Centres played host to Fashion On The Move with a team of models, headed by stylist and presenter Suzy Makin, staging a series of shows throughout the day.
On a busy Shrewsbury Saturday it brought crowds flocking to be entertained by the models parading the latest High Street fashions from the centres’ retailers.
Carolyn Codd, Assistant Manager at Monsoon, in the Darwin Centre, was delighted to have been involved in the event and said: “There’s been lots of people around watching and the models and the stylist have done a great job and really got themselves noticed.
“They performed outside and the presenter said something about the store which was excellent and they actually came into the store.
“It was really good fun and the girls here loved it and said it cheered up their whole day.
“It’s good that they move around. People might not have time to stop and watch but they can’t miss them if the models are moving around.
“What’s more the models looked great and our clothes looked great on them.”
The series of shows kicked off at 11am featuring Marks and Spencer and Dorothy Perkins in the Darwin Centre before moving on to Soho, Wallis and Monsoon, then River Island and Laura Ashley before finishing at Next, New Look, Roman and Heavenly Brides and Belles in the Pride Hill Centre.
Ellie Normandin, at Wallis, was also delighted with the day and said: “It was brilliant and everything went really well and the models were very nice – one actually came into the shop with one of our dresses on.
“We actually sold one of those dresses afterwards and another lady tried one on as well.
“There was a good crowd and the people really enjoyed the show and what’s more we’ve had a great day too and had a lot of fun.”
Karen Parkinson, Marketing Manager for the Darwin and Pride Hill Centres, was also delighted with the way the day went and he said: “It was fantastic. There was a really good buzz throughout the whole day and the crowds seemed to love it.
“As soon as the music started it seemed to draw people in - it’s been a very good day here in Shrewsbury and we’re very pleased.
“The Centres were very busy and the reaction from the shops has been very positive and there seemed to be plenty of smiling faces here on Saturday.”
