Police are trying to trace the driver of a car involved in a collision with a young cyclist at the weekend.

Driver who collided with cyclist in South Shropshire sought by police

The 13-year-old boy was cycling with a friend in South Shropshire on the single track road to Middlehope from Diddlebury when in collision with a red car at around 3.30pm on Saturday.

He fell from his bike and sustained a broken right wrist, badly bruised ribs and ankle bruising.

The car driver stopped to check on the boy and then left the scene.

Police Constable Sarah Fraser, the investigating officer, urged the car driver to contact the police by calling 101.

“Because this was a collision involving injury we need to speak to all parties involved and I appeal to him, or anyone who knows who he is, to contact the police.”

The car involved is described as a four-door red estate which had its back seats down covered in waterproof sheeting. It had a dent behind the driver’s side rear wheel and a scratch on the right side of the bonnet.

The driver is white, aged around 60, with a chubby face and fairly long curly grey hair.
