MP Daniel Kawczynski hopes for A5 reclassification
Shrewsbury's MP has written to the Transport Secretary to discuss the possibility of reclassifying part of the A5 as an extension to the M54.

Shrewsbury & Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynski believes that linking Shrewsbury to the motorway network would help encourage business into the area.
Mr Kawczynski said that although Shrewsbury was well served by the A5, A458 and A49 and had a good record of attracting firms, reclassifying the A5 east of Shrewsbury would enable businesses to state they are accessible by a motorway network and encourage further business opportunities.
The A5 east of Shrewsbury is a two-lane duel carriageway the same as the M54 through Telford, Mr Kawczynski said the nominal change of reclassification would bring tangible benefit for minimal cost.
A meeting to discuss the idea is being arranged between the Shrewsbury MP and Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin.
