Jackfield stabilisation works to be discussed at meeting
Telford MP David Wright and Ironbridge Councillor Dave Davies will be talking with local residents today about proposed stabilisation works in Jackfield.

The Telford MP - working with Telford & Wrekin Council - has fought a long campaign to raise funds to ensure the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site is protected for future generations and this is the latest phase of that ongoing work.
The last phase, on The Lloyds, has so far proved to be very resilient, and it is hoped the work to the Jackfield side of the river will prove as successful.
David Wright MP said:
“I am pleased that we have managed to secure £17.6 million from a mix of council and Government money to help protect what is the jewel in the crown of Telford and, indeed, the nation. It is our duty to protect this World Heritage Site for future generations to understand where the modern world began and I want to pay tribute to the local council and the Government for recognising this."
Cllr Davies said:
“I very much welcome the news that the council and the Government have been able to work together to bring about this much needed work. I am sure that all residents will want to thank David and council officers for their tireless work in securing this investment. Even in tough economic times, it is vital we protect our environment."
The work is due to start this summer and will involve £17.6 million of expenditure. Telford & Wrekin Council is investing £5.6m and the Department for Local Government and Communities will spend £12m.
The meeting takes place at 6pm at The Boat Inn in Jackfield and all residents are welcome to attend.
