A £100,000 redevelopment of Alan Ward, Shropshire’s largest independent furniture store, is progressing well company bosses said today.

Shrewsbury's Alan Ward store undergoes £100,000 redesign

The first step in a complete revamp of the ground floor at Alan Ward in Shrewsbury is set to be completed by the end of the month and has created three new jobs for the town.

“This is a major development for us and we are bringing in an even wider range of products and truly diversifying our selection for customers, ” said Elaine Ray, senior director for Alan Ward.

“We are completely committed to offering our customers everything for the home under one roof.

“Alan Ward is very well known for larger furniture items such as sofas, carpets and beds but less well known for the finishing touches and accessories but this redesign will change that perception and make us the place to come to for gifts for the home.”

Miss Ray also welcomed three new staff to the store, which includes a manager, one full-time and one part-time member of staff.

“The expansion means we have been able to employ three new staff, who will be on hand to offer customers advice and help when they need it.

“In the current economic climate, we are really proud to be expanding and employing more staff, which contributes to the general well-being of Shrewsbury’s economy.”

She said the redevelopment involved bringing in new stock and new suppliers, many of which are exclusive to Alan Ward in Shropshire.
