Oakengates Nursery School and Day Care in Telford & Wrekin have both been given an outstanding rating by Ofsted inspectors in a matter of months.

Oakengates Nursery School and Day Care rated outstanding

Ofsted inspected the Nursery School in May and found it to be outstanding in all areas, while the Day Care was judged outstanding during an inspection in November 2012.

Head teacher Kay Darlington said: “Two outstanding inspections in one academic year is a real accomplishment.

“We are very proud of all the children, parents/carers, Governors, staff and other professionals who work together in partnership to provide the very best for all our children.”

The Ofsted inspector was impressed with the behaviour of the children and the outstanding teaching throughout his visit. In his report he said: “Children thrive, they are inquisitive and ask sensible questions about anything they find.

“Children thoroughly enjoy coming to nursery. This shows in their look of anticipation whilst waiting to come in at the beginning of sessions and in their reluctance to leave at the end”.

The Chair of the Governing Body, Fiona Wright, said: “We do hope that people read these glowing reports which are a true reflection of the inspirational work that is enjoyed by all that attend the Oakengates Nursery School and Children’s Centre.”

Councillor Paul Watling, cabinet member for Children, Young People and Families, said: “Since opening in 2005, Oakengates Nursery School and Children’s Centre has continued to grow and develop. After an Ofsted report which judged the school and centre as good with outstanding features in 2007, they have improved to outstanding in 2010 and again this year.”
