The Georgia Williams Trust today revealed its official strapline and announced details of the charity’s bank account so people can donate money.

The Trust also unveiled a design for the official charity wristbands, which will be available in two weeks.

“Free Your Spirit – Join In” will be the motto for the charitable trust and has been devised and chosen by Georgia’s family.

The wristbands made by Rocket Charities will be available in both orange and royal blue, reflecting Georgia’s favourite colours.

17 year old Georgia died at an address in the town last month and a man has since appeared in court and been remanded in custody, charged with her murder.

The Georgia Williams Trust was formed at the beginning of last week at the request of Georgia’s family to help oversee fundraising and create a lasting long term legacy to the teenager.

The trust already has a Facebook page which has attracted more than 4,000 “likes” since it went live on Wednesday.

Trust chairman Inspector Richard Langton, of West Mercia Police, said: “The Georgia Williams Trust has worked very closely with Georgia’s family and her parents Steve and Lynnette have chosen Free Your Spirit – Join In as the strapline for the charity.

“We feel this is a really powerful message that truly captures the energy with which Georgia lived her life and we believe it is one that everyone who knows Georgia will identify with.

“We now also have bank account details and we would ask that all money that has so far been raised is paid into this account so we have one central point of funds We’ll be setting up a website with easier ways to donate very soon.

“The trustees will then work closely with Georgia’s family on how the money should be spent to celebrate her life and create a lasting long term legacy.

“Today we have also unveiled the design for official charity wristbands. There is a huge appetite for these wristbands and this is a design and wording that has been approved by Georgia’s family. They will be available in a couple of weeks and we will be announcing on our Facebook page details of how people can get hold of one” (A graphic of the design is attached to this press release).

The Georgia Williams Trust bank account is with Barclays Bank. The account is under the name New College Telford – The Georgia Williams Fund and the account number is 33366030 and the sort code is 20-85-46.

The Georgia Williams Trust is made up of representatives from several local organisations, including New College, Ercall Wood Technology College, West Mercia Police, 1130 Wrekin Squadron Air Training Corps, AFC Telford United, Telford & Wrekin Council and Wellington Town Council as well as representatives of young people who have already been fundraising.

Georgia’s life included being head girl at Ercall Wood, a member of the student council at New College, part of the matchday safety team at AFC Telford United and as a Cadet Corporal with 1130 Squadron, Air Cadets.

The Trustees of the charity also include Scarlett Williams, Georgia’s sister and Steve Millington, a close friend who has raised in excess of £2300 already towards a memorial bench for Georgia.

Georgia’s father Steve said: “We chose Free Your Spirit – Join In because it totally sums up Georgia, her energy and her enjoyment of life – it really is the perfect strap-line for the charitable trust in her name.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for all the support and affection that people have given us in the past few weeks and I hope everyone will continue to support The Georgia Williams Trust.”
