MP David Wright backs Telford-based TA Forces
Telford MP David Wright yesterday piled the pressure on the Government over the future and identity of the Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry based in Telford.

During Defence questions in the House of Commons, David Wright MP said:
"There is solid support across the House for the TA and the reserve forces. I know that the Government are undertaking a review and looking at their recruitment targets. However, there is uncertainty about the future of key regiments. When will the Minister make an announcement, and will he ensure that we protect the Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry?"
The issue has been unclear since the Government began a review of the Territorial Army and Mr Wright has received a large amount of correspondence on the matter. The RMLY are based in Dawley Bank.
Mr Wright added:
"The Government needs to end this uncertainly and soon. It is damaging to morale and local people want to see an active TA presence in the town. I will continue to press Ministers to ensure the survival of the Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry."
