Redhill Primary School in Priorslee has been awarded a ‘good’ rating following an inspection by Ofsted, the school’s standards watchdog.

Inspectors highlighted many outstanding features including behaviour and safety being graded overall as ‘outstanding’.

The report said: “In lessons, pupils challenge and encourage each other, are eager to work in pairs and groups but are also able to share quiet, thoughtful periods of concentration. Pupils’ enthusiasm for learning is outstanding.”

Head teacher Claire Lamb said: “We are really pleased that the inspectors recognised that pupils’ behaviour in and out of the classroom is of the highest standard.

“The school’s highly effective teaching and non-teaching staff were praised for their work and positive impact on pupils work. This really was a team effort.

“We are extremely proud of the good and outstanding judgements given by Ofsted and have taken into account the recommendations by the inspectors to improve and receive ‘outstanding’ next time.

“This is very pleasing as it truly reflects the team effort that takes place at Redhill on a daily basis.”

The Ofsted inspectors observed that teaching at the school is ‘good’ and some is ‘outstanding’.”

The inspectors praised the school’s teaching strategies - particularly how responsive teachers are to pupils.

The Ofsted inspectors advised that in order to further improve: “Redhill Primary School should ensure that in more lessons, pupils have the opportunity to make exceptional progress by the use of varied and inspirational teaching”.

The school was also advised that to offer continued pupil achievement, it should extend the excellent assessment and monitoring systems of pupils’ progress, that is evident for Literacy and Mathematics, to all other subjects..

Councillor Paul Watling, cabinet member for Children, Young People and Families, said: “This is a really positive achievement for Redhill Primary School and I would like to congratulate everyone involved at the school”.
