Wellington Edwardian villa Sunnycroft saved for the nation
A rare Edwardian villa in Shropshire is to be safeguarded by the National Trust forever, protecting the historic house for generations to come.

Sunnycroft, in Wellington, has been declared inalienable by the National Trust’s Board of Trustees.
This declaration means that the conservation charity cannot sell, give away or mortgage the Grade 2-listed house and will look after Sunnycroft forever, saving a unique part of the heritage of Wellington, Shropshire and the Midlands.
Mark Agnew, General Manager for Sunnycroft and Attingham, said:
“The future of this hidden gem, visitor attraction and vital safe, green space for the local community of Wellington, Telford and Shropshire has been secured.
“This means that after many years of work by the Trust and a very enthusiastic team of staff and volunteers at the property Sunnycroft: the villa, garden, mini estate and extensive collection, have been safeguarded for future generations. Some of our volunteers, who have worked unceasingly to secure Sunnycroft’s future, wiped away the odd tear as we announced this fantastic news to loud cheers at our annual volunteer garden party.”
The National Trust team are visibly improving conservation across the property and every visitor helps to generate funds for its care. Further growth in visitor numbers and income is hoped for as the property is currently trying to raise over £260k for major roof repairs.
Sunnycroft is currently open Fridays to Mondays from 10.30am to 5pm.
