Witnesses sought by police to three Shropshire collisions

A motorcyclist was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after being seriously injured in a head-on collision with a car on the A49 south of Bayston Hill just after 1pm on Friday.

PC Dan Yates, the investigating officer, said: “I’m anxious to hear from anyone who either witnessed the collision or saw the motorcycle or car prior to it happening. Call Shrewsbury police station on 101.”

The blue Triumph Street Triple motorcycle was being ridden from Shrewsbury between the Condover and Little Lyth turns on a series of severe bends when involved in the collision with an oncoming red Citroen C4.

The 49-year-old male motorcyclist remains in a critical condition. A husband and wife in their eighties who were in the car were treated at the RoyalShrewsburyHospital for minor injuries.

A motorcyclist was also airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital following a collision with a car at Claverley, near Bridgnorth at around 6.20pm on Friday.

He sustained serious leg injuries. The woman car driver was taken to RussellsHallHospital in Dudley with serious injuries to her face.

The silver and red Honda CM125 motorcycle was being ridden on the B4176 when involved in a collision at Upper Aston with a silver Renault Megane travelling in the opposite direction.

And in another collision near Bridgnorth the same night, a man who was a passenger in the front of a car which crashed into a hedge, suffered serious head injuries and was taken by land ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The driver was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for a check.

His white BMW 520D left the B4364 Ludlow Road near the Down Inn just before 10pm as it headed towards Bridgnorth. No other vehicle was involved.

Police have renewed appeals for witnesses to the Shropshire collisions to contact 101.
