Jiggers Bank re-opens following extensive works after rock fall
Jiggers Bank, one of the main routes into Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge, was this morning re-opened after a rock fall closed the road last November.

The road was re-opened during a ribbon cutting ceremony organised by Telford & Wrekin Council.
Emergency work to stabilise the rockface was undertaken including extensive land stabilisation works since the closure in November 2012.
The work included regrading the rockface, earthworks, treatment of mine workings and coal seams, drainage and installing a catch fence, netting and anchors before landscaping the site.
The re-opening of the Bank was attended by the McPhillips contractors, Telford & Wrekin Council’s geotechnical engineers who have been working at the site, the local ward member, Councillor David Davies and Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin’s cabinet member with responsibility for land stability in the Ironbridge Gorge. The Homes & Communities Agency (HCA), who own the land, was also be represented.
Councillor Overton, said: “We are keen to ensure that members of the public are fully aware of the scale and complexity of the works which have been undertaken and of the efforts that have been made to re-open the road as quickly as possible.
“The teams working on the project are to be congratulated on their efforts to ensure a lasting solution.”
Councillor David Davies said: “The re-opening of Jiggers Bank will be welcomed by the local community as it will allow quicker access into Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge.
“The local residents have been patient throughout the work to Jiggers Bank and I want to thank them for this.”
