Man dies as pick-up and trailer leaves the B5476 at Coton
A man has died and another has been taken to hospital after the pick-up vehicle and trailer he was driving crashed on a country road near Whitchurch in north Shropshire.

He was airlifted to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in Stoke on Thursday afternoon where he was pronounced dead a short time after arriving.
The driver was Norman Leslie Ford, aged 67, of The Dingle, Aldersley Lane, Prees.
The collision happened on the B5476 at Coton shortly before 12.15pm.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The driver had suffered numerous injuries. He received emergency treatment and was flown to University Hospital North Staffordshire where unfortunately he was confirmed dead.
“There were two passengers in the vehicle. One of them, a man in his twenties, was treated for back pain and was fully immobilised at the scene before being taken by land ambulance to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
“The other passenger, a man, was checked over by ambulance crews and discharged at the scene.”
The man, who has not yet been named, is believed to be aged 67 and from the north Shropshire area.
He was driving a white Toyota Hilux pick-up towing an Ifor Williams trailer carrying three cattle.
Police say the vehicle was travelling along the B5476 towards Whitchurch when it appears to have lost control, resulting in both the pick-up and the trailer jack-knifing.
The trailer tipped onto its side, skidding into a hedge before coming to rest in a garden. The pick-up, which became detached from the trailer, went into a hedge on the opposite side of the road.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said today: “We are investigating the circumstances which led up to the incident and appealing for any witnesses, to contact Shrewsbury police station on 101. We would also like to hear from anyone who saw the pick-up and trailer in the area at around 12pm before it happened.”
The Shropshire coroner Mr John Ellery has been informed and a post mortem will be held early next week. An inquest is also likely to be opened next week.
