Major roadworks will be taking place in the next few weeks on the A442 Eastern Primary in Telford.

Major works to take place on Telford’s Eastern Primary

The works will see the section of the dual carriageway that is in the poorest condition undergo an extensive patching and surface dressing programme.

This is the Randlay to Stirchley southbound section of the Eastern Primary and the work will require an initial full closure of the carriageway from 9.30am on Monday July 29 to 4pm on Tuesday July 30.

There will be a traffic diversion in place along Queen Elizabeth Avenue and Stirchley Avenue. The council is also looking at the future possibility of introducing a contra-flow system for the Randlay to Stirchley section.

As well as that work, there will also be other maintenance works on the dual carriageway sections in the town and major white lining works on Hollinswood Interchange. This will take place over the nights of Monday August 12 and 13 between midnight and 6am.

Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, Employment and Skills, said: “I would like to apologise in advance for any disruption caused by these essential works.

“We have worked hard to ensure that closures take place at a time when there is the least traffic but inevitably there will be some delays as we are having to close the southbound carriageway between Randlay and Stirchley next week.

“We would ask people to bear with us while this work takes place and I would like to thank people in advance for their patience.”
