£1.3m lighting upgrade project continues in Telford & Wrekin
Telford & Wrekin Council’s ongoing project to improve street lighting and reduce energy consumption is continuing as many roads are about to have their street lighting upgraded.

The upgrades are part of a £1.3 million project investing in the borough’s street lighting provision to provide a better quality of light at a lower cost and will introduce consistency in the standard and quality of lighting across Telford and Wrekin.
During the improvements, which begin on Monday, the existing lights will be upgraded.
Work will be taking place on the following roads:
Apley Avenue, Haybridge Road, Britannia Way, Castle Street, Trench Lock, Dale Acre Way, Dawley Green Way, Brunel Road, Grainger Drive, Pool Farm Avenue, Leegate Avenue, Grange Avenue, Castlefarm Way, Redhill Way, Colliers Way, Forton Road, Sommerfeld Road/Hadley Road, Hall Park Way, Holmer Farm Road, Holyhead Road, Mossey Green Way, Old Park Way, School Road, Donnington, St Georges Road, Telford Way and Wrekin Drive.
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, Employment and Skills, said: “It’s important that we work hard as a borough to reduce our energy consumption and being able to install all these new street lighting lanterns is a really positive step.
“What’s more, this reduction in energy consumption will bring with it a reduction in cost for Telford & Wrekin Council to keep the borough well lit, which is equally positive given the current economic climate.
“I’m pleased that during these few months we are going to be able to upgrade so many lights in the area and bring about better consistency to our lighting arrangements across the borough.”
Telford & Wrekin Council say there will be minimum disruption to road users and residents while the work is in progress. Work on the replacement lights will be completed by 31 October 2013.
