Man assaulted in Market Drayton town centre
Police are seeking witnesses to an incident in Market Drayton town centre where a man was punched in the face.
The assault happened between 6pm and 6.30pm last night near the bookies shop in Cheshire Street.
Police Constable Teresa Horne, the investigating officer, said:
“As the victim was walking along Cheshire Street, a man wearing a high viz vest and shorts crossed the road and punched him on the side of the face.”
The 32-year-old victim suffered bruising and a black eye but did not need hospital treatment.
PC Horne appealed for witnesses to contact her at Market Drayton police station by calling 101.
She said the offender was white, thought to be in his thirties, about 5ft 11ins tall with short shaved hair. “He would have been quite conspicuous because of the high viz vest and shorts he was wearing.”
Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity, for which a reward may be paid, by calling 0800 555 111.
