Telford & Wrekin Council uses ebay to sell surplus items
Telford & Wrekin Council has joined a handful of other local authorities nationwide to generate income by selling items that are no longer needed on ebay.

It is still in the early stages of development but recent property rationalisation has meant certain items have outlived their usefulness and over £2,000 has been raised.
Items sold include firewood, legal books, canoes and kayaks from the Arthog Outdoor Education Centre in Snowdonia.
Councillor Bill McClements, cabinet member for Finance and Enterprise, said: “We are a business winning and business supporting local authority and that is reflected in everything we do. Using sites like ebay to go some small way to easing our budget pressures is a natural step as part of that.
“We are not talking high finance here but, as a certain successful business might say, every little helps and whatever we can raise can be used to help further protect our frontline services.
“We know as a council that we have to continue to reduce our dependence on government money and this is one of the many initiatives that we are introducing to contribute to that.”
The largest transaction via the Telford & Wrekin Council ebay account has been the sale of a the legal books to a private collector in London. Items currently up for auction are 12 desks with pedestal units and cupboards and more firewood.
