Thieves make off with cash box during robbery outside Shifnal bank

Police believe two men wearing hoods were involved in the incident outside Barclays Bank in The Square, Shifnal at around 12.45pm today.

The offenders threatened the man from a security van with a hammer.

They grabbed the cash box he was carrying and made off in a vehicle along Aston Street on the A41 towards Tong.

Detective Inspector Mark Bellamy said no-one had been injured.

“We have already had several witnesses come forward but we are anxious to hear from anyone who saw any part of this incident in The Square, or who may have spotted the getaway vehicle.”

He appealed for witnesses to contact Shrewsbury police station by calling 101 or 0300 333 3000.
