A young woman was punched in the face during a street robbery in Ketley, Telford, yesterday.

Woman punched in the face during Telford street robbery

The 20-year-old was walking along Holyhead Road, near to Farmfoods at around 12.30am when the incident happened.

Detective Constable Joanne Heyes, the investigating officer, said: “She felt her bag being pulled and on turning round, was punched to the face and her bag taken.”

Two men who got into a gold coloured car are thought to be responsible. The vehicle drove off towards Ketley, turned round at the Holyhead Road/Beverley Road mini roundabout, and came back past the victim towards Oakengates.

The woman suffered swelling beneath one of her eyes.

Her bag was a black leather shoulder type with a long strap and an oblong silver badge on the front. It contained £50, a Lloyds TSB bank card, cigarettes and a purple Clipper lighter with a picture of a sun.

DC Heyes urged anyone with information about the robbery, or who spotted a gold coloured car in the area at around 12.30am yesterday, to contact her at Telford police station on 101.

Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
