Police investigating the assault are appealing for a number of people who helped the 34-year-old victim to get in touch.

The man was walking up Pride Hill between 12.45am and 1.20am today when he was knocked to the ground and kicked by the women outside McDonald’s.

He was treated at the scene for minor injuries to his face but declined further medical treatment.

Police Constable Simon Bradley said that five or six men in their twenties or thirties assisted the victim after the incident.

“I would ask them to please contact Shrewsbury police station on 101 and I am also appealing to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.”

Information concerning the identities of the offenders can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
