Man arrested following knife robbery at Shrewsbury store

Police have arrested a 28-year-old man following a knife robbery at a Spar shop in Shrewsbury.

He was arrested at a home in the town early this morning about an hour after the incident at the Spar store in Conway Drive which happened shortly before 11pm last night.

Police were alerted after a hooded man walked into the shop, threatened staff with a knife and demanded money. He ran off with about £140.

Officers searched the area and made other inquiries including checking CCTV footage.

The man in custody was arrested on suspicion of robbery and is being held at Shrewsbury police station.
