Security guard robbed at knifepoint in Telford town centre
An investigation is underway after a security guard carrying cash was robbed in Telford town centre this morning.

At around 11.05am, the security guard was returning to his van having collected money from the McDonalds restaurant on Sherwood Street when he was approached by an unknown man wearing a motorcycle helmet.
The man pulled out a knife and waved it at the security guard in a threatening manner. On seeing the knife, the security guard dropped the cashbox he was carrying.
The offender in the motorcycle helmet immediately picked up the cashbox and ran to an orange coloured motorcycle that was parked up nearby with a second man on it.
The man who had the cashbox quickly jumped onto the back of the motorcycle and the two men then made off out of the car park past the Asda garage in the direction of Hollinswood.
Speaking about this incident, Detective Inspector Billy Scott, from CID in Telford, said:
“I am pleased to report that although shaken, the security guard was not injured during this incident. We are currently working with him to get more detailed descriptions of the man who took the cashbox and the other man on the motorcycle.
“We are speaking to a number of witnesses at the present time and it seems that the motorcycle may have been parked up in the car park for 15 to 20 minutes prior to the offence. Clearly this means we’d be keen to speak to anyone who may have seen it near to the McDonalds entrance at the shopping centre between 10.30am and 11.05am this morning.
“Although at the present time we do not know exactly how much money was stolen in this robbery we do believe it is likely to be a significant amount.
“Anyone who believes they may have information that could aid the police investigation is asked to call police in Telford as soon as possible on 101, quoting incident number 196S 190913.
“Alternatively, please remember information can also be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather not identify yourself.”
