Telford Loyalty Card proves popular

Telford & Wrekin Council says the Telford Loyalty Card continues to go from strength to strength with almost 40,000 residents and 172 businesses signed up.

Telford Loyalty Card proves popular

The council launched the card in April as a replacement for the Flex Card, with the two major differences being that the Telford Loyalty Card is free and that it can be used to save money at local shops and businesses.

Last weekend the council held a networking afternoon for businesses that have signed up to offer discounts. It took place at the New Buck’s Head prior to AFC Telford United’s game against Colwyn Bay.

Representatives of 27 companies turned up to the event and gave positive feedback, with a number of people asking for more similar events to be organised.

Most of the businesses have a number of card holders taking advantage of the discounts on offer. One good example is BHS in Telford Shopping Centre who offered 25 per cent off all in-store products – leading to 672 Telford Loyalty Card holders making discounted purchases.

Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet lead for the Telford Loyalty Card, said: “We are delighted with how the TLC has been received since we launched it five months ago and it is fantastic that so many residents are taking advantage of its benefits.

“We received some great feedback from businesses about ways in which people are taking advantage of the offers and we believe there is plenty more scope for us to develop the offer even further.”
