Witness appeal after Shrewsbury schoolboy is robbed
Police today appealed for information about an incident in which a 12-year-old boy was robbed while on his way to school in Shrewsbury.

He was grabbed from behind by an older youth, held down on the ground and his pockets searched. His school dinner money of £10 was stolen during the incident just after 8am on Monday in Washford Road, Meole Brace.
Police Constable Simon Portman, the investigating officer, said the schoolboy was grabbed from behind by a youth on a bike. “He was pushed against a wall and then forcibly held down on the ground while his pockets were searched.
“The offender then cycled off towards Meole Estate.”
He said the victim was not injured but was very shaken by the ordeal.
“I am appealing for witnesses to contact Shrewsbury police station on 101 and would also like information concerning the identity of the offender.”
PC Portman said the youth was white, aged about 16, of slim build and had a scar on his nose. He was wearing a black hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms with a white stripe down the side.
He was riding a green BMX bike with a red saddle and stunt pegs on the back wheel.
