Police in Telford are appealing for information after a burglary in Muxton yesterday.

Pensioner finds Burglaries upstairs in her Muxton home

The incident occurred at around 7.15pm at an address on Copperfield Drive on Tuesday 8 October, the victim – a lady in her 80s – was watching television when she heard a noise upstairs in her property.

When she went to investigate the noise and got to the bottom of the stairs she saw two unknown men – one of whom started to walk down the stairs towards her.

The man said something to the lady but she did not stop to listen and quickly left her house. She immediately reported the incident to her neighbour, who then called the police.

A police spokesman said:

“Police officers responded to the call straight away but when they entered the victim’s property the two men were nowhere to be seen.

“Officers then escorted the lady back into her home so she could see whether anything had been taken. Sadly it appears that around £250 was stolen from a bedside drawer by the men the victim found in her house.

“Although very shaken by this incident, the victim has been able to describe the man who came down the stairs towards her.

“He is described as being white, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, as being around 5ft 9inches tall and as wearing a green baseball cap and green fleece jacket.

“Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have information about this burglary, especially anyone who may have seen two unfamiliar men in the Copperfield Drive area at around the time this burglary occurred last night.

“Anyone who believes they may have information about this burglary is asked to call police officers in Telford on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 597S 081013.
