Shropshire police officer charged with rape
A West Mercia Police officer based in Shropshire was today charged with two counts of rape.
Police Constable Vinod Kumar Dahiya, aged 44, from Telford was charged with the rape of a woman on two occasions earlier this year – between 14-17 May and between 1-6 June.
He is also charged with assaulting the woman by beating on 15 May.
The officer, who is currently suspended, has been given police bail with conditions to appear before Telford magistrates on 13 November.
The alleged offences did not take place while he was on duty.
