Two of the injured were treated at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but none were seriously hurt.

The incident happened between 12.20am and 12.40am yesterday in Hill’s Lane.

Those injured were aged 22, 21 and 19. Two of them were kicked and punched to the ground by several other young men.

One man aged 18 has been arrested on suspicion of malicious wounding and assault, causing actual body harm. He has been given police bail with conditions while inquiries continue.

Police Constable Simon Brindley, the investigating officer, said: “The incident involved a number of young men fighting with another group, resulting in two of that group sustaining injuries which needed treatment at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. A third man was also hurt but did not require treatment.

“I am appealing for witnesses who saw any part of this incident to come forward. Contact Shrewsbury police station on 101. Information about the identities of those involved can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
