Police appeal for help in finding man missing from Wem area

James Loffman, ages 26, was last seen at around 11.30am this morning near Lacon Hall.

When he was last seen James was with his dog - a collie crossed with a German shepherd - walking in the general direction of Wem town centre.

A police spokesman said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for James because although he enjoys long walks, to have been out for so long is out of character.

Concerns have also been expressed about his mental state prior to his disappearance.

“With the weather the way it is we are very keen to locate James as soon as we can so we can ensure he is safe and well and reunite him with his family.

“He does know the area he’s in as he walks frequently but we are concerned for his physical welfare if he stays out overnight with the weather as wet and blustery as it is.

“James is described as being white, 5ft 10inches tall, with a slim build and when he was last seen he was wearing a fleece lumber jacket and black jeans.

“I would urge anyone who has seen James, or who knows where he is, to contact us as soon as possible and anyone with information should call police in Shropshire on 0300 333 3000 or 101.”

Update: James was last night found safe and well.

We're pleased to report that missing Wem man James Loffman has just been found safe and well. Thanks for your retweets of support! https://twitter.com/WMerciaPolice/statuses/396718189825912832
