The fire broke out in the bedroom of a mid terrace property at around 2.15am.

The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Firefighters from Tweedale and Much Wenlock used breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to put out the fire.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the property.
