Philip Dunne helps raise funds for Philippines disaster relief
Philip Dunne MP joined fundraisers from Ludlow Rotary Club today to help raise money for disaster relief efforts in the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.

UN reports suggest 11 million people have been affected by the typhoon, with thousands expected to have been killed.
Mr Dunne said “The disaster in the Philippines has affected millions of people. International relief efforts are underway but a co-ordinating effort across an archipelago with thousands of miles of coastline is no easy task.
HMS Daring and HMS Illustrious are currently on their way to the Philippines to provide humanitarian assistance and the UK Government has already committed £20 million worth of relief to help those who urgently need clean water, food and shelter. I have seen myself the generosity of Ludlow residents in supporting this appeal willingly donating what they can to help those people suffering devastation in the Philippines.”
Typhoon Haiyan is the strongest tropical storm to hit land on record and the World Food Programme estimate that 2.5 million people are in need of emergency food aid. Donations will help to pay for essential supplies such as water purification tablets, emergency shelter and food packs.
