Peppa Pig draws crowds to Telford lights switch-on
Thousands of Shropshire residents flocked to Telford Shopping Centre last night to see children’s favourite Peppa Pig switch on the Christmas lights.

Shoppers joined the launch of the month-long festive activities at the Shopping Centre, which included performances by members of the cast of Aladdin at Oakengates Theatre and an appearance from the Telford Tigers, as well as the main attraction – Peppa Pig and her brother George pushing the button to turn on the traditional Christmas lights.
The evening also marked the opening of Santa’s Candy Castle themed grotto located in Sherwood Square. A sweet treat for children, the grotto is now open every day until Christmas Eve.
Chris Jones, Centre Director at Telford Shopping Centre, said: “This year’s Christmas activities got off to a great start last night. We were thrilled to see so many people turn out to see the switch-on and join in the celebrations. Our special guests Peppa Pig, her brother George, the cast of Aladdin and the Telford Tigers were a big pull for families and everyone loved the traditional decorations and lights.
“The switch-on was just the start of the Christmas celebrations and there’s a lot more to come including the annual Charity Gift Wrap, letters to Santa and not least the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck arriving on Saturday 30th November. We can’t wait to share this special time of year with shoppers.”
