A man was hit in the face several times during an attempted robbery on Priorslee Road in Snedshill on Friday.

Man hit in face during attempted robbery in Snedshill

The 46-year-old man was walking home at around 8.15pm when two men appeared out of the alleyway that runs off Priorslee Road towards Hazel Way and suddenly tried to grab the bag he was carrying.

The men shouted at the victim to let go of his bag but he refused and began to shout for help.

One of the men then hit the victim a number of times in the face but still he refused to let go of his bag.

Eventually the two offenders were forced to release their grip on the victim’s bag and they then fled the scene of foot – possibly in the direction of Freestone Avenue.

A police spokesman said:

“We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who recognises the offenders from the following descriptions.

“The first man is described as being white, aged in his mid 20s, around 6ft tall and as wearing a grey hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.

“The second man is described as being white, aged around 20, about 5ft 8inches tall, with a slim build and as wearing a dark hooded top.

“Anyone who may have information about this incident, especially either of the two offenders, is asked to contact police in Telford quoting incident number 700S 061213.

“Alternatively, if you’d rather leave information without identifying yourself you can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
