Man hit with rounders bat during Shrewsbury street robbery
A 21-year-old man was hit with a rounders bat and robbed in Shrewsbury after being approached by a stranger asking for a cigarette light.

The incident happened at around 2pm last Thursday in the car park at the Spar shop in New Park Road, Castlefields.
Police investigating the robbery are appealing for witnesses and information to help identify the offender.
Detective Constable Alex Sullivan said today: “This was an unprovoked incident. There would have been people around at the time so I am appealing for witnesses to contact Shrewsbury CID on 101.”
The victim was suddenly grabbed by the man after he asked for a light. He was dragged to the ground and a £20 note, door key and an MP3 player stolen before he was struck once on the thigh with a rounders bat or small baseball bat.
DC Sullivan said he was dragged into the alleyway linking the car park behind the Spar with North Street.
Although his thigh was badly bruised and swollen he did not require medical attention.
The assailant was described as white, in his thirties, of medium build, 1.8 metres tall with short brown hair. He was wearing a blue jacket over a white hooded top. The bat was white with a black handle and about 14-inches long.
