Report highlights need for improvement at RSH
The Care Quality Commission has published its report following an inspection carried out at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in October.

While many of the findings indicated the Trust was meeting the necessary standards, the report also highlights where improvements are required.
Sarah Bloomfield, Acting Director of Nursing and Quality, said:
“Our priority is to make sure our patients receive the kind of timely, safe and dignified care they expect and deserve.
“The independent inspections carried out by the Care Quality Commission play a vital role in helping the Trust, and the NHS as a whole, to maintain and improve the standards of care we offer to our patients. They help NHS trusts maintain transparency and ensure the communities we serve have confidence in the services they receive.
“We understand that there are improvements we need to make. Work is already being carried out to address any concerns that have been raised about areas of the service we provide. For example, we will be focusing on improving the way we manage our care planning records and descriptions of care we give for our patients.
“We also need to make sure we highlight areas of good practice, so that these can be shared with colleagues throughout the Trust. For example, a lot of work has been carried out to reduce the number of preventable falls in our hospitals. In November there were no patient falls in our hospitals that resulted in serious harm. Also, we significant improvement in reducing pressure ulcers, which reflects the hard work and dedication of staff from across the organisation.
“The most important thing is to be listening to our patients about what they expect and making improvements that reflect those expectations. In the New Year we will be running patient listening events where people can share their experiences and help to shape the future of healthcare in their local hospitals. We will be sharing more information about this soon.”
