Calmer weather in Shropshire for Christmas Day
Following the recent stormy weather Met Office forecasters are expecting a calmer, colder spell for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

For Christmas Day and Boxing Day, the Met Office forecasters are expecting a colder and less windy interlude with overnight frosts and sunny spells and a wintry mix of showers. So there is a chance that some places, especially the higher ground, may see a White Christmas. For most of us though Christmas is likely to be green not white.
Met Office Chief Forecaster Eddy Carroll, said: "Another Atlantic depression is expected to bring a further spell of wet and windy weather to the UK Thursday night and on Friday.
"Generally this is not expected to bring as severe conditions as the recent storms, although rain falling on to saturated ground brings the risk of further flooding.
"Throughout this spell of unsettled weather everyone is advised to stay up to date with the latest Met Office forecasts and National Severe Weather Warnings and find out what to do in severe weather so they can plan ahead and be prepared for the weather in store."
Throughout this unsettled spell Met Office forecasters and advisors are working round the clock with our partners to keep everyone up to date with the latest forecast information so they can plan and prepare for the expected weather.
David Jordan, Director of Operations at Environment Agency said: "Our thoughts are with those who have been affected by flooding. Whilst the worst of the bad weather has now past, rivers continue to respond to the heavy rain. We urge people to remain prepared for possible flooding and avoid driving or walking through flood water.
"Our teams are on the ground working around the clock to protect communities from flooding. We are ready to respond to further risks of flooding throughout the Christmas holidays."
