Three teenagers were robbed at knifepoint in Madeley on Sunday night.

Three teenagers robbed at knifepoint in Madeley

A 17-year-old girl and two 16-year-old boys were walking along Russell Road at around 11.45pm when the incident happened.

The three teenagers had just entered the underpass that goes under Parkway when they were overtaken by a male on a bike, who stopped in front of them. He was armed with a knife and told them to hold over their valuables.

He stole nothing from the two boys but took from the girl a BlackBerry mobile phone and £12 in cash. He then rode off, chased by one of the boys who lost sight of him near the Meadow Lea flats.

The offender, who had his face covered by a scarf, was described as being white, approximately 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a black hooded top with the hood up and over that a high-visibility tabard. He was riding a blue bike, possibly a mountain bike.

Detective Constable Katie Morgan from Telford and Wrekin CID said: “This incident covered a large area of Madeley on Sunday night and we would like to speak to anyone who was out and about just before midnight.

“Prior to the robbery, the victims saw the same male hanging around on his bike on the High Street, so if anyone saw anything suspicious on the High Street, around the nearby branch of Tesco, Russell Road, or the Meadow Lea flats, please get in touch."

DC Morgan can be contacted via the non-emergency police number 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please quote the reference number 686s 29/12/13.
