Staff at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn are celebrating this week as ticket sales for Sleeping Beauty reached over 35,000.

Theatre Severn’s Sleeping Beauty breaks box office record

The figure breaks the record set by the previous two pantomimes, Aladdin and Jack and the Beanstalk, and with another week to go tickets are still selling fast.

Brad Fitt, (Director and Dame) said: "We are thrilled that we have outsold previous years and are looking forward to seeing even more people over the next few days. The show always evolves, extra bits get added, jokes can take on a life of their own and it’s never the same show twice and the final week is always something special."

Audiences this year have enjoyed all the usual pantomime favourites but it is the Bathroom Scene, which uses two tonnes of water daily, and Helga the fire breathing dragon that has really got everyone talking and has encouraged many people to return for a second, and even third visit.

Sleeping Beauty continues at Theatre Severn until 12th January with performances daily. Tickets are available at www.theatresevern.co.uk or by ringing the box office on (01743) 281 281.
