Police in Telford are investigating after five men forced their way into a house during an attempted robbery in Woodside.

Five men force their way into Telford home

The incident occurred at Westbourne some time between 7.45pm and 8.15pm on Saturday.

The victim – a 24-year-old man – heard noise outside his property and opened the curtains to see what was going on.

He immediately saw a group containing five men who were trying to force open a sliding door to enter his home.

The men quickly forced their way into the house and began to search it. At some point the victim was struck in the face while the men were in the house, while his television was also damaged as the search took place.

Having carried out their search the men quickly left the property but at this stage it is not clear whether they stole anything before fleeing the scene.

A police spokesman said:

“Two of the men that entered the victim’s house were wearing balaclavas while a third was wearing a scarf to cover his face.

“The fourth man is described as being ‘Asian’, around 5ft 8 inches tall and as having a ‘chunky’ build, while the fifth man is described as being white, small with a slim build and as having a black ‘tribal’ tattoo on his neck.

“Police are very keen to hear from anyone who may have information about this incident, especially anyone who may have seen the five men on Westbourne on Saturday night.

“Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact police in Telford quoting incident number 65S 050114.

“Alternatively, if you’d rather leave information without identifying yourself you can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
